Tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt Response:  My favorite word right now is realization because it relates to my life right now and how much of a difference it can make.I use this word a lot when I’m thinking about lessons I’ve learned it my life or when things start to make sense and come to me. Summary: Today in class we started working on vocabulary and making it into a story comic strip. Reflection: Today was a quiet and good calm day in class.

Before the Civil War, most people saw nothing wrong with children working long hours. Over time, people began to see it as unfair and even cruel. What is something that society once accepted but now sees as wrong, or something we still accept today that might be viewed as wrong in the future? Explain your reasoning.

Prompt Response:  In the past teachers were allowed to hit students as punishment and people saw that as a normal thing or even necessary to do. Now we see it wrong because it hurts the kids emotionally and physically and doesn’t teach them anything but to be aggressive back. Summary: Today in class we worked on the rest of the worksheet and a commonlit assignment. Reflection: Society back then was really cruel and sometimes still is to this day.

Blake uses the chimney sweepers to expose how society ignores suffering. Reflect on a time when you noticed someone being treated unfairly or saw a situation that didn’t seem right. How does this experience connect to the emotions or ideas expressed in one or both poems?

Prompt Response:  One time when I was at school I saw a classmate being blamed for things he didn’t do.Most people just looked and laughed but to me it didn’t seem funny or fair. This reminds me of Blake’s “The chimney sweeper” from songs of innocence where the child accepts his life is hard because he has hope for later on.Both show how innocent people can be mistreated while other just ignore and look away. Summary: Today in class we read two poem by William Blake and worked on a worksheet with our groups. Reflection: The poem made me realize how important it is to notice the unfairness others go through and to care for others even if you don’t know them.

Describe a time you couldn’t stop laughing.

Prompt Response:  A time I couldn't stop laughing was when my friend made a joke to her sister because her sister fell. The joke was so funny that I couldn't stop laughing every time I looked at my friend. My friend's sister didn't think it was funny, though. Summary:  Today in class, we kept working on our one-pager. Reflection:  I had fun at my senior sunrise today and enjoyed it with a lot of friends.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?

Prompt Response:  There was a time I admired my older cousin because they were so confident and smart. But sometimes they could really be strict and expect a lot from me, which was scary and stressful at the same time. At first, I thought people who seemed to be good were always nice and easy to be around, but this taught me that even people whom we look up to can be challenging. I realized goodness doesn't always mean perfect, it can mean being mean and keeping ushing you to be better. Summary: Today in class, we started on our one-pager. Reflection:  I loved learning the meaning of both poems we have read and the creation of Gods' work.

Describe your birth experience. What have your parents told you about the circumstances of your birth?

Prompt Response:  My parents told me that my birth was long and an emotional experience. My mom went into labor early morning, and my dad rushed her to the hospital in the middle of a thunderstorm. After several hours, I was finally born at night. They said the moment they heard me first cry, they felt relief and joy at once. My mom always says it was a blessing to have me and was one of the happiest days of her life. Summary:  Today in class, we read two poems about birth  Reflection:  I learned that two days later, after giving birth, someone comes in so they can get the name of the baby and have it in the record, and make a certificate.

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt Response:  Even when I have a lot going on, I try to make time for the things I enjoy, no matter what. I listen to my favorite music while getting ready because it makes me relax and start the day off with a good mood. Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt Response:   I’ve always been curious about space. It’s so huge and full of mysteries we don’t understand or know much about. I wonder if there’s life on other planets other than Mars or if we’ll ever travel that far in the future. It’s crazy to think there so much more beyond then what we’ve seen. Summary: Today in class we kept working on the poster. Reflection:   it was fun getting to work with other classmates.

What would you do: tell your friend to confess, tell their partner yourself, or stay quiet? Explain your choice, using ideas about loyalty and consequences from Fences. How might your decision affect everyone involved?

Prompt Response:  If my friend told me they were secretly seeing someone else other than their partner, I would tell them to confess it. In Fences, Troy's affair caused Rose to have so much pain because he hid the truth for a while. Staying quiet would make me feel and look guilty, and having to tell their partner might ruin my friendship with my friend. By making sure my friend is honest, I'd be honest and loyal to both of them. Summary: Today, in class, we continued reading the book Fences and started working on the STEAL worksheet and the poster. Reflection: I've  learned you have to live your life and not waste it on one person.

Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt Response:  A conversation that changed me is when my cousin told me I needed to stop doubting myself all the time. I always told him I couldn't do things, like have good grades or pass my test, but he told me that I can be better, I just need to want it. After that, I started believing in myself more and knew I had one person who believed in me, so I started doing better in everything I do. Summary: Today, in class, we kept reading the book Fences and started on our steal worksheet. Reflection:  I learned to put myself first before others.
