In Wild, Cheryl Strayed writes about the difference between deciding to do something and actually committing to it: “There was the first, flip decision to do it, followed by the second, more serious decision to actually do it.” Reflect on a time in your own life when you made a quick or casual decision that later required a deeper commitment. Describe what changed between the first decision and the moment you realized you truly had to follow through. What fears, challenges, or responsibilities became real once the decision was no longer just an idea?
Prompt Response: A time this happened to me was when I decided to join JROTC at first. At first, it seemed like a simple decision because I thought it would look good and be interesting.Once I actually joined, I realized it required a lot of commitment. I had to wake up early on block days to put on the uniform correctly. What changed was realizing that JROTC wasnt just an idea anymore, it came with responsibilities, teamwork, and the need to push myself even when it was hard.
Summary: Today in class, we read chapter 1 in the book Wild and started our theme tracker assignment.
Reflection: Today was an easy and quick day.
